Nancy Wake was born in New Zealand in 1912, then moved to Australia as a young child. During World War II, Nancy was recruited by the French and British Resistance, the elusive forces who were fighting the Nazi occupation in countries across Europe. She helped over 1,030 people to escape France in its years of German occupation and is recognised worldwide as a heroine of World War II.
