Faces in the water and the Edge of the alphabet
FRAME, Janet
Notes
Faces in the water: First published in 1961. Istina moves in and out of mental hospitals, facing the terrors of electric-shock treatment and the threat of a leucotomy. The edge of the alphabet: Sequel to 'Owls do cry'. Epileptic Toby boards a liner for London; Thora creates her own fiction about him. Both novels draw on the experiences of Frame's early life. They explore the world of the mind and very different ways of leaving the protection and confines of home.Additional Notes
