Summary: Jake and his father are on a hunting trip in the south of New Zealand. On their first night in the wilderness they are attacked. Jake escapes into the night but when he returns at dawn, he finds their campsite destroyed and his father and his dog missing. Alone, without the means to call for help and a day's walk from civilisation, he decides to follow a blood trail, deep into the bush, in the hope that it leads to his dad, injured but alive.
