Cyclone Giselle reached Cape Reinga on April 9, 1968 and brought havoc to the Northland region. She struck Wellington with devastating effect on the morning of April 10, 1968. As well as causing the sinking of the 'Wahine', the storm caused immense damage in the Wellington region.Additional Notes
