Novel in verse The novel is about the fabulous adventures Vela who is a Samoan song maker, poet and chronicler who lives for three hundred years. The story takes the reader on a journey through the many stories and worlds of the immortal Vela. We follow him down through the centuries on his travels, encountering many different peoples and societies, and we read his accounts of Lady Nafanua, a fearsome warrior queen Winner of the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for the Best Book, South East Asia & South Pacific 2010.
